Who was known for the phrase “Veni, Vidi, Vici” (“I came, I saw, I conquered”)?

Julius Caesar is well-known for saying “Veni, Vidi, Vici” (“I came, I saw, I conquered”). He played an important part in the growth of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. 

Caesar’s military genius and strategic brilliance enabled him to defeat Pompey’s forces in a series of battles. On March 15, 44 BC, a group of senators led by Brutus and Cassius killed Caesar in the Senate chamber.
