When is World Ocean Day observed annually?

World Ocean Day is observed every June 8th. The concept was originally proposed in 1992 at the Earth Summit – UN Conference on Environment and Development. World Ocean Day promotes the implementation of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as public interest in ocean protection, sustainable resource management, and increasing awareness about ocean pollution and marine biodiversity.
