The United Arab Emirates (UAE) consists of a total of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain.
The UAE’s emirates each have their ruler (emir) and operate semi-autonomously under the country’s federal system. Abu Dhabi is the UAE’s capital and the largest emirate in terms of geographical area and economic significance, but Dubai is well-known around the world for its economic diversity, tourism, and cutting-edge infrastructure. Each emirate contributes to the general growth and prosperity of the UAE.
