Mexico is often regarded as the birthplace of the Green Revolution because it was where many of the initial research and experiments took place that later formed the basis of the Green Revolution’s agricultural practices. Dr. Norman Borlaug, a leading participant in the Green Revolution, did much of his early research in Mexico, generating high-yielding wheat varieties that considerably enhanced crop yields. These inventions were eventually replicated and developed in other parts of the world, notably India and Southeast Asia, resulting in substantial increases in agricultural productivity and food security.
